TEDx returns to Xavier

By: Hollis Conners Xavier recently hosted TEDx, a series of lectures with the theme, “Touching the hearts and minds of others through innovation, service and leadership.” TEDx took place on April 26 in Schiff Banquet Hall in Cintas Center. A major portion of the audience was Xavier alumni. Students, faculty and other selected members of the surrounding community were also able to attend. TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, is a global, nonprofit  organization. It brings speakers to talk about their ideas and spread these ideas to those who attend. Xavier Singers’ Battle of the Sexes Review

By: Brandon Martin Xavier University Singers’ production of Battle of the Sexes was a knockout. Put on this past weekend, Battle of the Sexes was their last show of the year and was met with emphatic audience participation. Each Singer had his or her own song ranging from dramatic to comical, each with its strengths and weaknesses. Particularly captivating performances came from Alex Rogers, Zach Julian and Rio Van Risseghem. Each of them drew eyes whenever they were on stage with their magnetic stage presences. Xavier hosts All Honors Day

By: Lydia Rogers Xavier hosted the 21st annual All Honors Day program on April 20. Over 300 students were recognized for their academic, athletic and leadership excellence. The day’s events took place on various campus locations where family and friends were able to celebrate Xavier students’ achievements. The program kicked off with its first event, the Academic Honors Convocation at 9 a.m. in the James and Caroline Duff Banquet Center in Cintas Center. “This year, 81 awards from all subject matters were given to over 140 students for their academic achievement,” Director of Events Kelly King said. The awards presented included the Kramer-Miller Mathematics Award, the VJ Bieliauskas Psychology Award and the Nursing Mission Award.
