Brazilian soccer team killed in plane crash

By: Regina Wright ~Campus News Editor~ Fans of the Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense were shocked Nov. 28 when news broke that the flight carrying the team and guests crashed near Medellin, Colombia. The 71 victims included players, coaches and journalists. Six travelers- three players, two coaches and one journalist – survived the crash. Flight LMI2933 took off from Bolivia’s Viru Viru International Airport around 6 p.m. and declared an emergency near the Columbian municipalities of La Ceja and La Union. By: Regina Wright ~Campus News Editor~ “No Justice, No Peace” echoed through the streets of downtown Cincinnati as more than 2,000 protestors gathered to demonstrate against the President-elect and the recent mistrial of Ray Tensing. After the Presidential Election on Nov. 8, Donald J. Trump was declared President-elect. The results were considered upsetting after Hillary Clinton was predicted to win by The New York Times, The Huffington Post and other major news outlets. Two officers killed in Iowa during ambush

By: Regina Wright ~Campus News Editor~ Last week, two police officers, a rookie and a veteran, were shot and killed in Des Moines, Iowa. The officers were shot inside of their patrol cars early in the morning of Nov. 2 with their guns still holstered. The suspect was quickly identified as Scott M. Green, who was described by officials to The New York Times as a “troubled loner who was familiar to the police in his suburban town, Urbandale.” The motivation behind Greene’s actions are unknown.
