Xavier University’s chapter of Unified for Uganda (U4U) will be hosting the second annual Concert for a Cause, which U4U club member Jake Haigis describes as, “An end of the year event to showcase the talent within the Xavier community while raising money for the destitute children our chapter of Unified for Uganda sponsors.”
Some of the talented performers at this year’s concert are Joe Gladstone, who will perform “Bubble Toes” by Jack Johnson, “Crash Into Me” by Dave Matthews Band” and more, both singing and playing the guitar. Mary Ellen Green and Pat Mueller will perform “That’s What’s Up” by Lennon and Maisy, “Not the Only One” by Sam Smith and “FourFiveSeconds” by Rihanna, both singing and Mueller on the guitar. Other performers include the Acabellas, the Xavier Singers, sophomore Dennis Pickett, sophomore Ben Merlotti and senior Caz Kanabrocki.

While admission to the concert is free, food tickets can be purchased for $5 with all proceeds going to Xavier’s U4U chapter. Food tickets will give students unlimited access to a catered buffet featuring a delicious variety of food, including spicy balls from Dana Gardens, appetizers from Ryan’s Pub, boneless wings from Buffalo Wild Wings and Qdoba chips and queso.
Raffle tickets can also be purchased during the concert for an additional $1 per 2 tickets. Purchasing raffle tickets will enter students into a raffle with prizes such as a $250 Delta flight voucher and gift cards ranging from $10 to $50 to the Xavier Bookstore, Starbucks, Amazon, Skyline and Target, among other places.
Other miscellaneous prizes including t-shirts from the Xavier Bookstore and U4U club will be raffled off as well. The event also includes a free photo booth. Food will begin to be served at 5:00 p.m., and the first performer will take the stage at approximately 5:30 p.m. with the last performer finishing around 9 p.m.
The concert takes place at 5 p.m. on April 22 at the Husman Stage. All proceeds from the event support impoverished children in northern Uganda. In the case of bad weather, the Gallagher Student Center Atrium Stage has been reserved.
