During our time at Xavier, the circumstances students live in have changed constantly. All students deserve to have an equitable experience at Xavier. All for one, and one for all.
We want Xavier to be a reflection of success, intellect, and growth. We want Xavier to continue to foster a community of excellence in education and experience.
In order for that to be possible, as student leaders, we intend to make the struggles of the student population abundantly clear to our administration. Currently, food insecurity is at 29% amongst Xavier students. If elected, we want to work with the administration immediately to ensure no student goes hungry through increased sustainable food practices and expanding possibilities for the use of dining dollars at Kroger and local businesses.
Many students with both visible and invisible disabilities are not currently represented on campus. Most of the academic buildings are inaccessible, and there are insufficient allowances for students who suffer from mental and chronic health issues.
Beyond this lack of representation, Xavier’s bias reporting system is currently unchecked. Students do not have a secure, enforceable way to file a complaint against discriminatory acts. This is unacceptable. If elected, we want to put a reliable system in place so that students know minority-based violence is not tolerated, and will be acted against.
As individuals and a team, we have previously brought forth issues to the administration that have directly affected students. If elected, we guarantee that we will continue to be honest, forthcoming, and communicative with both students and administration in efforts to improve every student’s experience.
These are just a few of the issues students are facing. There are so many more.
We want to be your Student Body President and Vice President because we will ensure that students are heard. We will listen, and we will do whatever possible to make the issues of the student body clear to our administration while actively working to respond to the needs of our fellow students.
Voting will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25. All Xavier undergraduate students will automatically receive a ballot to their Xavier email.
