Career Development Office Seeks to Improve Student Outreach

By Rory McNelley, Staff Writer

Matescia Stroud, Associate Director of the Career Development Office (CDO), came to speak to SGA about ways in which their office can improve their student outreach. The office works with businesses in Cincinnati to create opportunities for students, including jobs and internships.

“Our whole goal is to help you all be successful in all your career options,” Stroud said.

The CDO offers headshots, mock interviews, professional mentorship programs and resume help. The office urges students to use the Handshake platform to reach out to possible employers on and off campus.

To help students prepare for the career fair, the CDO is offering drop-in hours on Feb. 26 and 27 from 1 to 5 p.m. and March 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. The career fair will take place in Cintas Center on March 5 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Students were encouraged to engage with events offered by the CDO.

In other business:

  • The Antonio Johnson Gala will take place this Friday in the Duff Banquet Center in the Cintas Center.
  • SGA will be collaborating with Newswire to produce monthly opinion pieces about issues concerning the student body, as well as Instagram reels that inform students of current programs and progress.
  • Free oil changes are being offered to students at Firestone from now until March 7. Students must have their All Card.
  • There will be a campout this Friday prior to the Creighton game on Saturday.
