Xavier connects students and faculty to vaccination opportunities

BY: Erin Albright, Staff Writer As of today, all Xavier students are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the state of Ohio, and the university is currently working to help students and faculty receive their shot. Chair of the COVID-19 Task Force Jeff Coleman explained that the university is not administering vaccines itself. “The university has partnered with TriHealth, the city Health Department, and Kroger to administer the shot at the Cintas Center,” Coleman said.  Cintas Center recently hosted a three-day event in March where over 9,000 shots were administered to eligible members of the Cincinnati community. One-sided Rivalry: Xavier rolls to another Shootout win

By: Andrew Utz ~Staff Writer~ Cintas Center was a full house for the annual Crosstown Shootout, holding 10,617 Xavier and University of Cincinnati fans for the Musketeer’s 65-55 victory. Xavier came out strong in the first half, taking a 10-1 lead after the first five minutes. The Bearcats were held to 42-26 at the half-time buzzer. Junior guard Myles Davis hit a corner three-pointer as the regulation clock expired. At half-time, the Musketeers held the Bearcats to 12 rebounds, while senior forward James Farr and sophomore guard Trevon Bluiett grabbed eight of 20 Xavier rebounds. Musketeer Madness kicks off new season of Xavier basketball

By: Donnie Menke ~Staff Writer~ Musketeer Madness kicked off the new basketball season last Friday for both the men’s and women’s teams. It included team introductions, a 3-point contest for both teams, a dunk contest for the men, team scrimmages and appearances by former players. During the women’s introductions, Leah Schaefer hoisted a stuffed animal Simba as she was introduced, and Jenna Crittendon wore boxing gloves. Crittendon also defeated Martha Thompson, Marquia Turner and Kindell Fincher in the 3-point contest.
