Xavier University will welcome the families of students this coming weekend with a wide range of family-friendly activities.
The first event, Musketeer Fanfest, features music, inflatable games for children, corn hole and other activties. Skyline Chili and Trauth Dairy/Dean Foods will also be present to serve “Cincinnati’s favorite chili” and ice cream treats.
Musketeer Madness, presented this year by Skyline Chili, will kick off the 2013-14 basketball season, which is also Xavier’s inaugural season in the Big East Conference.
The first 1,500 fans ages 18 and older in attendance will receive a free T-shirt. The first 1,000 kids 17 and younger will get foam fingers.
The event will also include introductions of both the men’s and women’s teams, a skills competition and intra-squad scrimmages for both teams.
Xavier’s Department of Music and Theatre, along with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, is presenting “The Crucible” over Family Weekend. See this week’s feature for more details.
The women’s soccer team will host its last home game against DePaul at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The women’s team will be celebrating senior day and hosting “Kick or Treat” Day, where the best Halloween costume will win a Xavier prize. The first 150 Xavier students in attendance will receive a free T-shirt.
Students’ family members will be able to utilize the O’Connor Sports Center for free from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Family members must have a valid ID and sign a liability waiver. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
